    Charlotte,

Thank you. This was a much needed reminder that I need to be kinder to myself. It was also a reminder that every day I am an example for my daughter, even if she is still very small. The other night I found myself looking at her strong and healthy little toddler body and wondering if she will have my legs or her father’s legs. I much prefer my husbands legs and have always had a complicated relationship with my own legs. She isn’t even two and I was assessing her body for future challenges!!! I should have been celebrating the strength that now allows her to pull herself up and toddle around. So…one more development area for this parent but so worth getting it right if it means she can see the strength in her body rather than her lumps and bumps. K

I’m so glad you found it helpful, Keating. At one of the events I went to last week, a mum in the audience asked how she could protect her daughter from body image worries and Luisa Omielan gave a brilliant answer saying that she should just model the level of self love and confidence she wants her little girl to have. I thought it was really such a great response and I so hope I remember when my time comes!

    Hey Charlotte
I love your posts. I always feel like it’s just you writing to me, like a long, protracted conversation we’re having, because you sound like I think I sound in my head! You’re just better at it! Hope you’re well. Keep up the stellar conversation!
